A very successful day was had at the Whangarei Field Day on Sunday August 3, where the following umpires from the far north were successful in gaining their Zone award :

Teresa Shreeve (KeriKeri), Tui Kapa (Mangonui), Deresley Clarke, Tanya Nowell and Martha Peterson ( BOINC) and Graeme Pulham and Gail Shepherd (Whangarei).

This representative fixture provided the opportunity for the 6 Zone coach/assessors from the area to come together and work/assess these umpires. Many of have been umpiring at this level for some time but have only recently in the past two years had the opportunity to do their Zone Theory exam.

This event also allowed the new coach assessors from the various centres, who did the Introductory workshop in February, the opportunity to work with Jan and Raewyn on their coaching skills.

So despite the weather and the no power it certainly was a very successful day from an umpiring perspective. Many thanks to Whangarei for hosting this event which certainly assists the umpires to gain further awards.
