Netball Northern Zone is one of four Zones affiliated to Netball New Zealand that oversees the promotion, development and growth of netball in the Northern Region.  The Zone encompasses 15 Centres from Waiuku in South Auckland, to Mangonui in Kaitaia.  This region includes over 46,000 members that participate in netball at grassroots.   

We are seeking a NetballSmart Development Officer (NSDO) to join our team and be responsible for leading the delivery of Netball New Zealand’s NetballSmart Strategy in the Northern Zone with a focus on decreasing serious injuries in Netball participants, through the provision of programmes and initiatives that;

  • Prevent injury and enhance performance
  • Improve player wellbeing and welfare
  • Increase awareness and engagement with the NetballSmart philosophy and programmes

The successful applicant will have a background in Physiotherapy or Sports Science and/or Strength and Conditioning with knowledge of injury prevention strategies in sport.  Netball knowledge and experience in delivery of workshops is also required.

You will be a skilled communicator, highly organised, well-planned and reliable.  The ability to build and maintain a network of strong relationships and work closely with NNZ, Zone and Centre staff and volunteers in the Netball community is essential.  

This is a full time 40hr per week fixed term role until October 31, 2026. which is funded by Netball NZ/ACC contract. There may be an opportunity to extend the role, subject to on ongoing ACC contracts.

The NSDO will be based in Auckland and reports to the Zone Relationship Manager and the NetballSmart Programme Manager.
