On Sunday, 6 July, our passionate Community Team took to the stands at the Northern Mystics vs Southern Steel game to champion Love Their Game—a powerful campaign that inspires positive sideline behaviour across a variety of sports. 

Why does this matter? Because the words we choose on the sidelines have a huge impact—not just on the players, but also on umpires and coaches. Encouragement, respect, and kindness can transform the whole game experience. 

At the heart of the action was our Words Matter Wall—an interactive space where fans could share their uplifting sideline cheers and messages. The response was incredible, with over 200 positive messages flooding in, reflecting the spirit of our vibrant netball community. 

Claire Beuvink, Relationship Manager at Netball Northern, shares the excitement: "Seeing so many encouraging words from supporters really shows how much we all care. We can't wait to see these messages echoing through the courts all season long!" 

Whether it’s a cheer from the sidelines, a coach’s motivating words, or a simple thank you to an umpire, every positive comment helps create a welcoming, inspiring environment for everyone involved.
