Netball Northern Zone has appointed Nicole Spratt as its new chief executive.

Nicole is currently State Manager and second in command to the CEO at Gymnastics Australia, and has an extensive background in the commercial environment gained through a variety of senior roles within the Banking and Finance sector. She also brings experience on not-for-profit boards, including eight years as the Finance Director of one of Melbourne’s largest netball Associations.

Ms Spratt noted, “I am a keen supporter of many sports, both grass roots and professional, and have involved myself in many ways, including as a fan, and as a volunteer. I have passionately followed the ANZ netball competition for many years, and have travelled throughout Australia and also to New Zealand on a number of occasions to support my franchise. I am excited about bringing my commercial skills to a sport that I am passionate about. I have a keen interest in mentoring and strongly believe in the value of sport in developing great people and great communities.”

Zone Chair Dianne McAteer said that the Board was excited about having a fresh perspective, and were impressed with Ms Spratt’s demonstrated ability to lead change within challenging stakeholder environments through disciplined strategic planning, and strong communication skills. “As netball continues to compete for participants in our increasingly busy lives, and also to compete for the financial resources required to develop our great game, a fresh perspective will be invaluable to us as we develop our strategic plan for the next five year period.”

Spratt will commence her new role on 11 September 2017.
